Charming is the first word that comes to mind in describing these signature shadow puppet animations from the renowned pioneer animator, Lotte Reiniger. Created for British Television in the 1950s, this compilation includes five short classic fairy tales: Cinderella (pictured), The Frog Prince, Hansel and Gretel, The Little Chimney Sweep, and The Three Wishes.

Also included is a short documentary The Art of Lotte Reiniger, which clearly shows how these amazing films were created. Miss Reiniger narrates, and demonstrates how she creates the puppets, the scenery, how she moves them for the animation camera, and also shows many "tricks of the trade."

These unique puppet films are in a class all by themselves. The stories are told in English with a delightful musical score in a stylish way that only Lotte Reiniger could accomplish. This film will appeal to both children of today, and to "children of yesterday."
